How to avoid the TRICKS by being aware of the tactics:
As National Cybersecurity Awareness month comes to a close on Halloween, It can be spooky knowing that cybercriminals are trying their best to trick you. Check out these tips to stay safe online and protect yourself and your organization from cybercriminals.
Don’t open the door to strangers!
Just as you were taught not to open the door to strangers, opening links from unknown sources can be just as dangerous.
Phishing refers to the practice of cybercriminals disguising themselves as representatives from a legitimate organization in an attempt to trick recipients into opening an email or message to steal your confidential information. Phishing tactics may change with time, but the basics tend to stay the same.

Protect Your Candy With a Strong Password
Think of passwords as the first line of defense against hackers, using a solid password is crucial for your cybersecurity. You should use distinct passwords for all your different accounts and change them often.
Strong passwords usually consist:
- At least 8 characters – the more characters, the better.
- A mixture of both uppercase and lowercase letters.
- A mixture of letters and numbers.
- Inclusion of at least one special character, e.g., ! @ # ? ]
It may be difficult to remember so many passwords for your various accounts, which is when a password manager comes into the picture. A password manager is a program or software that will help you store and manage all your passwords together.
Chase Away Cyber Vampires
WITH MULTI-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION
Cybercriminals are getting more sophisticated, and sometimes a strong password alone may not be enough to keep them out of your organization’s accounts.
Cisco Duo Multifactor authentication (MFA) adds one more layer of protection to help reduce your risk of identity theft and fraud. Duo verifies user identity and device health at every login attempt, providing trusted access to your applications.
Don’t leave a Candy Trail
When you are out trick-or-treating, it is fun to post pictures of your costume, candy stash, and spooky decorations that you saw on your way.
Attackers use social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, etc to target both your brand, your users, and even your customers by distributing malware or using social engineering to phish for credentials. These criminals try to trick your users and steal login credentials in an attempt to hijack accounts, damage your organization’s reputation or gain access to your network.
