Clock Signal Component Issue

Dear Valued Customers:

This is an update in regards to the Cisco clock signal component

We’ve been notified by Cisco that affected equipment has been validated and replacement has been confirmed. Cisco will notify the end customer and TEC upon shipment of replacement product. You will have about a week’s time from receipt of the replacement to install and then return the defective hardware. Customers will be served in the order of device longevity and nature of business criticality. If you desire support from TEC’s engineering team, please make us aware within the next 30 days.

This is an important announcement from Cisco

Recently Cisco has discovered a technical issue, in which both TEC Communications and Cisco are actively addressing.

Cisco strives to deliver technologies and services that exceed customers’ expectations and meet rigorous quality and customer experience standards. However recently, Cisco became aware of an issue related to a component manufactured by one supplier that affects some Cisco products. In some units, Cisco has seen the clock signal component degrade over time. Although the Cisco products with this component are currently performing normally, they expect product failures to increase over the years, beginning after the unit has been in operation for approximately 18 months. Once the component has failed, the system will stop functioning, will not boot, and is not recoverable.

All Cisco products containing this component have been identified and are listed below:

Cisco has worked with the supplier to quickly put a fix in place and products currently shipped do not have the issue. Cisco is proactively providing replacement products under warranty or covered by any valid services contract dated as of November 16, 2016, which have this component. Due to the age-based nature of the failure and the volume of replacements, Cisco will be prioritizing orders based on the products’ time in operation.

TEC is currently reviewing the list of products and will attempt to reach you, our valued customer, directly by email if you have purchased one of the above products and have an associated Cisco service contract.
